Chased and gilded brass mounting, cap decorated with a lion's head, with cut-out and engraved skirt. Guard with one branch, partly openwork, decorated with a palmette, half-oreillons decorated with palmettes and quillon curved towards the point, ending in a stamp with melon ribs. Beautiful curved blade with flat back engraved "Manufacture de Klingenthal", hollow sides and gutter, richly engraved in gilt and blued in thirds with palms, friezes and an engraved cartouche "Le 1er ... (malheureusement effacé) s/lieutenant au 25è Regt de chasseurs à cheval 1er germinal An XI" on one side and "Récompense nationale" on the other. Black chagrin-covered scabbard with three embossed brass fittings decorated with palmettes, foliage and spider webs, three bracelets decorated with foliage and two suspension rings.
