LIGHT CAVALRY OFFICER'S SABRE WITH BACCHUS Brass and ebony mounting. Cap decorated with a rosette of foliage. Jointed bow decorated with a palmette, almond-shaped cross depicting the god Bacchus and drop-shaped quillon. Ebony spindle squared. Strong Solingen blade with hollow sides and counter-edge. The blade is engraved, gilded and one third blued (oxidation). Iron scabbard with three brass fittings and two suspension rings. Wear to the sting. First Empire period. Total length: 99 cm PROVENANCE : - Roger de Montégudet collection (1880-1925) - by descent to this day.
