OFFICER'S SABRE OF THE 1st REGIMENT
DE HUSSARD, GERMAN GUARD
Chased brass, gilt and ebony mounting.
German style pommel with a finely chased
ornamented with a finely chased piece
decorated with a trophy of arms. Joint arch
at right angles to the hilt, cruciform
decorated in its centre with a flower.
Straight quillon. Striated ebony spindle,
with a rosette (one missing).
Curved blade with hollow sides engraved in gold
and blued in thirds depicting a hussar charging
charging and the inscription "Premier REGT
d'hussards". Chape and bouterole with gadroons,
Iron sting. Both sides of the scabbard,
the two bracelets and the chape are enriched
with chasing on an amatized background,
depicting trophies of arms. The whole is
mounted on a wooden core covered
with "zip" stitching.
Dried leathers making the sword difficult
