SENIOR OFFICER'S SABRE Brass and ebony mounting. Cap decorated frieze of stars and acanthus leaves. Flat joint arch decorated with General Bonaparte with the flag on the of Arcole. Cruise ship in the shape of an oreillon featuring an antique-style goddess. Spindle in squared ebony. Curved blade with hollow sides, gilded, engraved and blued in thirds. Scabbard with two bracelets and gilt brass suspension rings with three cartouches in high relief on a background. They represent a sumptuous antique-style trophy, an allegory of naval artillery and a thunderbolt. Decorated with decorated with geometric friezes. End decorated with palms, iron sting. Side decorated with a semi of stars. Bowl and tip repaired, missing quillon. France, Consulate / Empire period. Total length: 93.5 cm PROVENANCE : - Roger de Montégudet collection (1880-1925) - by descent to this day.
