Salvador Dalí (Figueres, 1904 - 1989) Black marker drawing on paper. Signed twice, dated 1978 and dedicated “ A Jeanne Hommage de Dalí.”   Created on two of the first pages of the book “Babouo” by Salvador Dalí, written and illustrated by Salvador Dalí. Drawing dimensions: 38 x 56 cm. (on two separate sheets, 38 x 28 cm. each, the left one forming a double page with the color engraving) Case dimensions: 41 x 30,5 x 5 cm.     Numbered copy 3 of a limited edition of 80 copies, made on pearlescent Japanese paper, out of a total edition of 395. It consists of a suite of engravings printed in black on Vélin de Rives paper, a color engraving on a diamond-engraved copper plate, and a collage enhanced with gouache on the cover. Published by the Centre Culturel de Paris. April 1978. Printer for the seven engravings was Pierre Jean Mathan, Boulogne sur Seine; for the copper engraving print run, Jean Cappelle in Samois; and for the hand coloring of the collage, Ateliers de L'Ibis in Paris. In perfect condition and in its original case. Dalí conceived the surrealist film Babaouo in 1932. This work revives the original idea for the film, which was never made, and narrates the picaresque adventures of the character Babaouo, whose name means somewhat along the lines of “the simpleton” or “the innocent.”
