24-piece set; girls and boys standing on a square base in summery, colourfully patterned clothing with a bouquet of flowers or flower pot, watering can and with grape basket, grapevine, tap, wine gourd as winegrowers and with flute, bagpipes, guitar as musicians and accompanying sheep or dog. Polychrome painting with gold staffage. Designed by Michel Victor Acier, circa 1778. H. 9 cm - 10.5 cm.
The profound interest in nature, landscapes, vineyards and orchards in the 18th century is reflected in the figures of gardeners, shepherds and winegrowers designed by the Meissen modeller Johann Joachim Kaendler (1706 - 1775) and his collaborator Michel Victor Acier (1736 - 1799) in various series of gardener's children.
