Il a publié The Third Book Descritbing the Sea Coasts… in the Oriental Navigation pour faire suite à l'English Pilot de John Seller. La première édition, en 1703, intègre 35 cartes. Compte tenu de l'importance pratique de cet atlas (qui précède d'un demi-siècle ceux de d'Après de Mannevillette et de Van Keulens), il sera réédité par son fils en 1711 (avec ajout d'une carte de Chine). À la mort de Samuel en 1715, les planches seront acquises par la maison d'édition Mount & Page qui rééditera le Pilot et publiera le Forth Book
