First edition decorated with a portrait of George Sand engraved on metal by J. Bellin and a portrait of Lélia engraved after Lépaule. This is Sand's great feminist and cynical novel, in its first version marked by disillusionment. Condemned, the novel was lengthened and toned down a few years later. Two portraits added, by Gavarni. Bound in good quality, a few minor brown spots.
