SCATOLA PORTACIPRIA, CARTIER 1925 CIRCA, IN ORO GIALLO, LACCA, MADREPERLA, ONICE, RUBINI E CORALLO di forma circolare, il coperchio, incernierato e profilato da una cornice a motivi geometrici in oro intercalati da rubini cabochon, è decorato da una placca circolare in lacca intarsiata con strati in madreperla colorata, oro e argento, raffigurante un paesaggio agreste giapponese nel quale un contadino si avvia al lavoro nei campi portando dietro di sé un bue alla cavezza mentre una figura femminile, sotto una pergola, è intenta a tessere; la base, analogamente lavorata, con una figura femminile in abiti sontuosi accompagnata da un servitore che la protegge con un ombrello dai raggi del sole. Hans Nadelhoffer, Cartier , London 1984, tav. 38 An art Deco lacquer mother-of-pearl, coral and ruby compact, by Cartier, circa 1925 of circular form, the hinged cover, the border of wich decorated with a gold geometric design set with cabochon rubies, is decorated with a round laquer plate inlaid with mother-of- pearl, gold and silver, depicting a rural landscape where a peasant is heading for work in the fields leading an ox by a halter, while a female figure under a pergola is intent on her weaving; the base, similarly decorated, represents a richly dressed female figure accompanied by a male servant who is protecting her from the sun with a parasol.
