SYSTEM SEAL OF FRIAR JEHAN PRUNET The matrix in copper metal alloy circular shape with a conical socket decorated with six petals. The two-piece field engraved with a central shield with the Agnus Dei in the centre of a trilobe with alternating points and at the edge of the nominative legend in orle: + S' FRISIOHIS x PRVNET in capital letters engraved between two fillets. England, 14th century. Diameter: 2.1 cm - Height 1.1 cm (Good condition, the upper removable hoop is missing) This type of system die is rare and seems to be characteristic of England. These allow the use of a "small seal" without the legend without the legend, as required. A article entitled "Seal Matrices with Screw-out Centres", published in 1924 in The Antiquaries Antiquaries Journal" is devoted to this rare type of seal. Hugh Sadler Kingsford, the author author of the article and a great connoisseur of only eight complete examples, seven of which of which seven are in silver.
