Silesian lidded goblet with merchant's ice scene and motto Colourless glass, cut. Disc base with ground-cut star and frosted triangular border, the baluster shaft with honeycomb-faceted nodus. The domed bowl below with bevelled edge, above a high-cut tongue frieze; the dome rim richly and elaborately decorated with very fine, partly blown cut decoration, on the front with trade and merchant motifs with corresponding motto "Floreat com(m)ercium" (Let trade flourish); on the back A four-horse, loaded cart in front of a city view, framed and flanked by rocailles and two cornucopias, above a large, gilded ornamental motif in high cut. Minimally dam.; h. 23.8 cm. A Silesian cut and engraved glass goblet and cover decorated with merchant scenes and motto, townscape and a loaded horse-drawn carriage. Minor chipped. Silesia. Probably Preußler glassworks in Weißbach near Schreiberhau (Szklarska Poreba) near Hirschberg (Jelenia Góra), cut by Samuel Schneider. Around 1740-1760.
