In-12 (18,1 x 11,4 cm), black bradel paper with floral motif, smooth spine, black morocco title-piece, trimmed head, covers preserved (P. Goy & C. Vilaine). First edition. First published in Le Journal in July 1984, Vies Imaginaires is a collection of 22 short fictional biographies on "the unique existences of men, whether divine, mediocre or criminal". Copy on publisher's paper. Surprising mailing from Schwob to Édouard Drumont "sympathiquement". Drumont was a nationalist and anti-Semitic journalist and politician, in stark contrast to Schwob, a Jewish writer and Dreyfus supporter. Very good condition of the binding, inside covers damaged and laminated on a yellow paper, rare leaves restored, a few leaves slightly torn in the margin with or without missing.
