Seeger, Stadtpalais und Belvedere des Prinzen Eugen, p. 39, table 433 The trophies presented here were most probably designed by the architect Fischer Von Erlach for the Belvedere Palace of Prince Eugene of Savoy in Vienna. The two marble groups share a similar compositional structure, where in both there are two flags positioned in a cross with large oval shields in front and a sword in the centre. The attributes that characterise them suggest two allegories: one of Victory, with a trophy and laurel branch with a winged helmet, the other with a helmet surmounted by an eagle and a feather along the central axis, representing Strength.
