Very rare mustard jar with swan service decoration by Meissen 2-piece; with spoon. Oval foot with a pear-shaped swan emerging from the body with wide-spread wings and finely embossed plumage. Lateral twisted branch handle lined with flowers and leaves. Domed lid with sea mascaron in relief and gilded flower pommel. Fine polychrome painting with gilded lustre. Designed by Johann Joachim Kaendler and Johann Friedrich Eberlein. From the "SinnBilder" edition. Limited edition "12/50". Certificate. Centreboard mark with gold signet. H. 26 cm. Mustard jug belonging to the centrepiece of the swan service, which Kaendler mentions in 1739 as follows: "Jug for mustard in the shape of a swan, which carries a jug of shellwork, the handle on it stands in front of a little sea child, and the spoon belonging to it can easily be hung in the top."
