Rare baroque silver box. Cylindrical, smooth body with slightly flared stand ring. A domed plug-in lid in the centre with a correspondingly flared, narrow lip rim. Central depiction of a rosette of leaves, surrounded by an embossed, tongue-shaped godron band in relief. The underside with engraved owner's monogram and dat. "J: L: M: v: B: Q ö 1733". Remainder; mould, hallmark, master Johann Andreas Magnus (becomes master 1732). Weight approx. 200 g. H. 6.5 cm. D. 10.8 cm. Cf. Leistikow, Baltic Silver, p. 264. A Baltic Baroque silver box by Johann Andreas Magnus (master since 1732). Restored. Assay and master's mark. Baltic region. Mitau. Circa 1733.
