Rare feather bowl or vide poche by Amalric Walter and Daum Frères Elongated, lancet-shaped bowl with a chameleon and olive branches moulded in relief. Pâte-de-verre in shades ranging from yellow to dark green and darker inclusions, mould-melted. Designed by Amalric Walter for Daum Frères, c. 1910, signed "Daum Nancy" in conjunction with the Lorraine cross. H. 8 cm; l. 27 cm. The same model also exists in a later version with the signature of Amalric Walter and his collaborator Henri Bergé. Walter was one of the most important Art Nouveau and Art Deco artists who worked with the pâte-de-verre technique, which he developed himself in 1903. From 1904 to 1914, he created around 100 models as an employee of the glass manufacturer Daum Frères, and in 1910 he was awarded a gold medal at the World Exhibition in Brussels. Walter set up his own business in 1919 and his exclusive objects were exhibited at the legendary "Exposition internationale des Arts Décoratifs et industriels modernes" in Paris in 1925.
