Rare early Frankfurt plate with flowers and insects faience. Round shape with recessed centre, wide, horizontal rim and slightly profiled edge. Cobalt-blue hot-fire decoration, in the centre a flower vase still life, on the rim four larger floral motifs, in between scattered insects. Christie's label with dat. 5.12.(19)94 and no. 369. D. 36 cm. Provenance: Dissolution of an important German private collection - part II; acquired in the auction 5309 "British & Continental Ceramics", Christie`s, London, 05.12.1994, lot 369. A rare early German blue and white circular deep dish, centrally painted with a vase of flowers, smaller and scattered insects within a border of alternate flowering prunus and convolvulus branches and scattered insects. Frankfurt am Main. Circa 1670-1680.
