Rare large Art Nouveau vase "Vigne et escargots" by Daum Frères Flask shape on a flared foot. Cased glass with coloured powder meltings and fusions in yellow, orange, dark purple, white-grey and green tones. Elaborately designed with etched decoration of autumnal vines with leaves and ripe, dark grapes, combined with two sculptural applications in the shape of vineyard snails. Designed by Henri Bergé, 1904, etched signature "DAUM NANCY" in connection with a Lorraine cross. H. 45.2 cm. The vases, bowls and lamps of the luxury glass series "Vigne et escargots" stand out among the objects by Daum Frères due to their beauty with often unusual choice of colours and the hot-applied sculptural details of the snails. Daum Fréres had already produced its first objects with appliqués for the 1900 World Exhibition in Paris. This was followed in 1904 by the "Vigne et escargots" series designed by Henri Bergé, which was presented as a novelty at the 1905 World Exhibition in Liège, among other places. A comparable object from the Gerda Koepff Collection can be found in the glass collection of the Museum Kunstpalast in Düsseldorf. A rare large vase by Daum Frères.
