Rare, large Art Nouveau decorative vase with California poppies by Daum Frères Slender form. Club-shaped body on a flared, domed foot, rounded shoulder, swinging into the neck with a flaring mouth. Cased glass, colourless and with flaky powder meltings in white and yellow, the outer layer with powder meltings in green and ochre as well as partial overlays (so-called marqueterie de verre) in orange-red. Etched and cut decoration of flowering Californian poppies (Eschscholzia californica, also known as golden poppies). Chiselled sign "DAUM NANCY", Lorraine cross. H. 49.3 cm. A rare and large French Daum Frères cameo glass vase with acid-etched and engraved (wheel-carved) decor of flowering California poppy (Eschscholzia californica). Signed. France. Nancy. Daum Frères. Circa 1905-1910.
