Rare Louis XV pendulum with a group of figures "Dancing Peasant Couple" by Meissen
Rocaille-shaped, open-worked, gilt bronze base. A jubilant dancing farmer and farmer's wife in the centre of a base decorated with leaves and flowers. Polychrome painting with subtle gilding. Designed by Johann Gottlieb Ehder, 1742, with ascending blossom branches with colourfully painted, so-called Vincennes blossoms at the back. Tall, branched bronze stem as support for the round, cartouche-like framed clock case. Glazed enamel dial with black Roman numerals. Movement with spring suspension. Minimally chipped/rest; figure h. 14 cm. Total h. 32.5 cm.
