Rare Meissen figure of a merchant's wife at her desk Oval rocaille base covered with a rich assortment of goods and leaves. A lady sitting on a chair at her desk, absorbed in her books, keeping the account book with a quill pen. In front of her is the finely modelled writing set with grit box, inkwell, quill, scissors and eraser. In her left hand she holds an open gilded tabatiere. On her lap lies another open book. On the floor a basket filled with bottles and tied parcels of goods. Polychrome painting with gold staffage. Designed by Johann Joachim Kaendler, 1759, based on the engraving "L' Oeconomie" by Jacques Philippe Le Bas from 1754 (Coburg, Kunstslg. der Veste Coburg, Kupferstichkabinett, inv. no. IX, 592,35).
