Rare Renaissance horizontal table clock made of brass, gilded and with raised reliefs in cast silver. Square, circumferentially moulded body on pressed feet. Reserves on all sides with various depictions of the Rape of the Sabines. Dial in relief with Roman numerals, central alarm disc with finely engraved sun motif and scrolled foliage in the spandrels. Removable single-hand fusee movement supported by conical columns with verge escapement, striking mechanism on bell. Two barrels. Alarm movement missing. Engraved plate with putti heads. Base plate with relief portrait bust and leaf rosettes and DR monogram inside. In need of overhaul. H. 8 cm. 12 cm x 12 cm.
