Rare silver-mounted Frankfurt chinoiserie faience bottle, light paste blue glaze. Double gourd shape. Full-area cobalt blue decoration of two surrounding depictions of Chinese figures in landscapes, ornamental bands on the shoulder and neck. Silver-mounted mouth, crowned by a hinged, raised stopper, decorated underneath with a hanging lace border, finely engraved lambrequin decoration with flowers in the centre on the top of the stopper, indistinctly marked; glaze on the stand ring slightly chipped; stopper slightly dented. Labelled by the Schafft Collection with no. 33 and by Christie's. H. 33 cm.
