Rare Bohemian Baroque goblet from the noble family of Pálffy
Colourless glass. Flat disc base, spiral gold and ruby threads melted into the baluster shaft, the bowl finely cut and carved with allegorical motifs, imperial double-headed eagle, two mirror monograms, scrollwork and the inscription "Waß Gott und dem Kaiser treu" alluding to the loyalty of the important Austro-Hungarian noble and high aristocratic Pálffy family to the Habsburgs. H. 19 cm.
A comparable piece with the same decoration and inscription, but with an additional coat of arms of the Pálffy family, can be found in the Bratislava City Museum
