Rare celestial globe by Covens Earth globe with 12 lithographed and coloured segments and two polar caps. Various animals in the style of the signs of the zodiac and stars. The animals probably originate from a graphic model from the work "Uranographia" by the astronomer Johannes Hevelius, around 1690. Brass full circle meridian ring with engraved measuring scale. Supported by a four-legged wooden frame with baluster feet, surrounded by a horizon ring with calendar, zodiac and degree scales. Inscribed on the yellow flag "URANOGRAPHIA CAELUM Sive GLOBUS CAELESTIS à Gerardo Valk olimaere excusus nunc secundum norissimas observationes, ac multo emendiator editus à CORNELIO COVENS Calcographe 1803".
