Rare Art Nouveau "Belle Epoque" fish service from Nymphenburg 15 pieces; large platter, potato bowl, sauce boat and 12 dinner plates. Oval, round, pressed spherical, partly open-worked, curved bodies with fish head handles and algae handles. In the centre various fish and sea creatures swimming between the ornamental aquatic plants extending from the rim. Including pike, lobster, crab, carp, trout and seahorse. Chrome green, purple and gold painted. Designed by Hermann Gradl, circa 1899-1900, marked "Gesetzlich geschützt". Partially unmarked; manufacturer's mark. Plate 60 cm x 30 cm. Plate d. 23.5 cm. With its elegant form and naturalistic fish motifs, the "Belle Epoque" fish service, which was awarded a "Grand Prix" at the Paris World Exhibition in 1900, is one of the most successful examples of Munich Art Nouveau.
