Lot no. 542
Rare pair of Meissen figures of a girl and boy as gardener counterparts. On a profiled circular base surrounded by a ribbon, a girl with an apron and flowered dress standing over naturalistically designed terrain, holding a colourful bouquet of flowers in her right hand and a boy in a suit, a broad, flower-patterned cloth tied around his hips, clutching a small bowl with both hands. Polychrome, finely nuanced painting with subtle gold decoration. Designed around 1880 - 1882, with minimal remains; crossed swords mark. H. 37 cm - 38 cm.
Charming character study of a young girl and a boy, picking up on the tradition of gardener figures and emphasising the finely nuanced, individual faces.
