Interesting collection of scientific publications by Marcel de Serres and others, such as Pierre-Michel Moisson-Desroches, Roderick Murchison and Charles Lyell, Léonce Élie de Beaumont, Benjamin Valz, etc., taken from journals or as offprints.
The article by Murchison and Lyell On the tertiary fresh-water formations of Aix in Provence is accompanied by an 8-page manuscript containing its translation into French. Two articles include an autograph letter from their author, one from Moisson-Desroches, the other from Benjamin Valz: the author to his friend Deserres.
A copy compiled by Marcel de Serres (1780-1862), enriched with a table of contents and four long autograph notes, in which the scholar discusses the distance separating us from the stars (1/2 p.), the comet that appeared in 1829 (1/2 p.), artesian wells (1 p.), and ancient archaeology and the writings of Champollion (3 pp.).
Marcel de Serres (1780-1862), a famous geologist and naturalist from Montpellier, inaugurated the chair of mineralogy and geology at the Faculty of Science in his home town in 1809.
