EARTHENWARE FUNERARY SERVANT IN THE NAME OF PAABOUMEH NICKNAMED PSAMÉTIKSÉNÈB
Egyptian art, Saite period, second half of Dynasty XXVI
Beautiful statuette of a mummiform funerary servant, depicted standing on a square base, wearing a tripartite wig and a false beard. The hands crossed over the chest are holding farming implements and a cord from which a sack of seeds hangs down from the back. The ten lines of hieroglyphs engraved around the legs take up chapter VI of the Book of the Dead and give the name of the deceased, the Chancellor of the King of Lower Egypt, known to the king as Paaboumeh, nicknamed Psamétikseneb, son of Âakha, born of Taoupetnéfret.
