Signed Louis XV pillar chest. Rosewood and amaranth, veneered and inlaid with various, partially coloured woods. Three-sided cambered body, flanked by narrow corner pilaster strips, merging into high, curved legs. Two optically connected drawers sans traverse in the articulated front. Mirrored veneer panels covering the entire surface and floral inlays. Stamped Sign. B.DURAND (becomes master 1761) and (...)OLF (Christophe Wolff, becomes master 1755) and Parisian jury stamp JME. Gilt bronze applications and slightly protruding cover plate of red-brown and grey marble. H. 86 cm. 81 cm x 45.5 cm.
Provenance: from the dissolution of an important private collection in North Rhine-Westphalia. Purchased in 1981, Art et Décors, Zurich as Christophe Wolff for CHF 51,000.
