Signed Louis XV table à ouvrage by Maison Millet Covered with tortoiseshell and ornamented brass inlays in so-called boullet technique as well as gilded bronze applications. Fitted, curved, slightly concave frame on high, curved, tapered legs, joined below by a recessed shelf. Slightly protruding, profile-framed, hinged top panel. In the centre, large, glazed reserve with multi-figure pastel painting, bordered by opposing leaf scrolls. Below a recessed mirror surface and three storage compartments. Lock signed. Millet à Paris. Reserves of latticework and floral rosettes framed by mouldings. H. 75 cm. 44 cm x 33 cm. Founded in 1853 by Théodore Millet, Maison Millet was one of the most important Parisian furniture manufacturers of the 19th century. The company was awarded the gold medal at the 1889 and 1900 World Exhibitions as well as the Grand Prix and three Diplômes d'honneur for its exquisite furniture. Cf. Ledoux-Lebard, p. 482.
