Signed Louis XVI console by François Linke Mahogany and rosewood, solid and veneered. Straight, single-leg frame on high, fluted round legs. Slightly protruding, moulded and folding top panel with inlaid playing surface. Veneered fields of cube marquetry on all sides, bordered by thread inlays and applications of gilt bronze. Signed on the moulding. F. Linke on the moulding. H. 74 cm. 55 x 55 cm or 75.5 cm x 75.5 cm. François Linke is one of the most important cabinetmakers of the late 19th and early 20th century; in his Parisian manufactory he created furniture and furnishings inspired by the most important works of the great French styles Régence, Louis XV and Louis XVI and interpreted them in the taste of the time.
