[1] f., 176 typewritten pages. Original signed typescript of the novel Mon ami Maigret richly corrected in dark blue and red ink and pencil by Simenon. Like all the books in the Maigret series, this one was typed directly by Simenon, which explains the large number of corrections, additions and erasures made to the typescript. In particular, a number of chapter titles were changed, such as the sixth chapter, where "Pendant qu'on enterre Marcellin" (While Marcellin is being buried) was crossed out in favour of "Le cheval du Major" (The Major's horse), which was retained in the final version. Although it was Simenon's habit not to touch the structure of the story itself, certain passages have been crossed out by the author in favour of the plot. In the fourth chapter, the description of De Greef, one of the main suspects, is partly crossed out (p. 72 of the typescript). The link between his shoes, "espadrilles", and the heel strikes to the victim's face is removed by Simenon in the final version. Typescript in good condition. Joints, corners and spine worn. ATTACHED SIMENON (Georges). Mon ami Maigret. Paris, Presses de la Cité, 1949. In-8 (18.5 x 11.9 cm), paperback, printed white cover, illustrated dust jacket, folder and slipcase (Thérèse Treille).
