Very rare first edition of this immense moral poem of 36,000 lines with 82 characters, which paraphrases Bien avisé, mal avisé (a Middle Ages moral play about good and evil) and reports the Last Judgement of a just man and a worldly man (Bechtel). Simon Bougouinc, valet to Louis XII, is the author of plays and poetry. For him, morality sits above love and the Lover remains faithful beyond the grave (Bechtel). Grotesque letter with title printed in round letters, woodcut on the second leaf depicting the author writing his work and printer's mark on the last leaf. Brunet describes the work as very rare and points out that existing copies are often incomplete. Small scratch to first board. Title stained with trace of writing partly erased, small hole and small marginal loss, stains on second leaf, ink marks in margins of 3 leaves, last leaf stained with marginal repairs and handwritten inscriptions.
