Das hier vorliegende Gemälde basiert auf einer Komposition von Jacopo Tintoretto (1518/19–1594) in der Scuola Grande di San Rocco in Venedig, nach der auch ein Stich von Egidius Sadeler (1568–1629) bekannt ist (Metropolitan Museum of Art, Inv.-Nr. 49-95-2295). Das Gemälde ist unter der Nummer 262860 im RKD, Den Haag, als eigenhändiges Werk von Simon de Vos archiviert.
