Singing bird automaton Brass, wood and coloured feathers. Rectangular base with canted corners. On four feet, a base and cage made of narrow bars with a leaf-covered perch, decorated with flowers in relief and surrounded by beadwork. On top a feathered bird figure with movable head, tail and beak. Clockwork winding mechanism with lateral release. With hanger. Recovered; h. 28 cm. Provenance: Dissolution of an important German private collection - part II. A German wood, brass and feathers singing bird box. Rubbed. German. Circa 1900.
