Smith (Albert). Mr Albert Smith's Ascent of Mont Blanc in miniature. London, G.W.F. & W., circa 1854. Picture box (23 x 19.5 cm), with lithographed Egyptian Hall decoration, with 17 lithographs mounted on cardboard. The vertical picture box has a removable double bottom and a magnifying glass in the centre; it opens out accordion-style. The façade of the Egyptian Hall is depicted on the front panel, and the sides and back of the box are covered in orange paper. Attached are the 17 lithographed, watercoloured and gummed views; the one showing the stage curtain has no caption; the others bear the caption in English. The one showing The grandplateau by moonlight is engraved on translucent paper. The box is missing.
