Gilded and blackened wood frame decorated with five-pointed stars. Height: 45 cm - Width: 55 cm (as seen) B.E. Biography : Pierre Martinet, (Paris, in 1781 - after 1815) : Draughtsman, pupil of SWEBACH. He took part in the Salon from 1808 to 1812. History: On 15 August 1805, the Emperor's birthday, which would become Saint-Napoleon's Day the following year, a distribution of Crosses was organised at the Boulogne camp. The plan to land in England had just been abandoned in the face of the threat posed by the Third Coalition: the Grande Armée, which had been at a standstill off the English coast for two years, was to break camp and begin its victorious march across Europe.
