She was the wife and muse of the Colombian artist Fernando Botero. She is best known for her monumental, polychrome paintings and sculptures. Since the 1970s, her work has been exhibited and acclaimed worldwide through exhibitions, public commissions and participation in major international fairs. Sophia Vari is also renowned for her jewellery designs, which she names after Greek mythology.
