SOUTH ARABIAN STONE BULL PROTOME Ca. 300 - 100 BC. A bull protome carved from pale limestone, representing the forepart of the animal with a forward-leaning neck and tapering muzzle. The head is broad and angular, with pronounced circular eyes deeply drilled and flaring nostrils indicated by shallow indentations. The ears and horns are only partially preserved. The piece is mounted on a custom base. Size: 200mm x 110mm; Weight: 3.44kg Provenance: Private London collection, acquired on the Belgian art market, 1990s.
