A Napoleon I Memorabilia
A sculpted small horse from the beginning of the Nineteenth century, in gilded bronze and copper
Commentary:
"Sire, I have the honour of presenting to Your Majesty the first Frenchman who, since our arrival at Longwood, has entered there without the permission of Lord Bathurst". The announcement made by Fanny Bertrand, wife of the Grand Marshal, was entirely accurate: the newborn Arthur Bertrand was born on St Helena on 17 January 1817.
The Emperor had always shown great affection for the Bertrand children and gave gifts to the families, particularly on Saint Napoleon's Day on 15 August.
