A reliquary with three strands of hair
Commentary:
This beautiful reliquary brings together three central figures from the Battle of Waterloo: the two adversaries on the battlefield, Napoleon and Wellington, as well as Lieutenant-Colonel Henry Percy (1785-1825), Wellington's aide-de-camp.
Percy, a major in the 14th Dragoon Regiment, was instructed by Wellington to deliver the news of the victory and to give the Prince Regent the eagles captured in the fighting.
