Model 1877 modified capote of Lieutenant LÉPISSIER of the 131st RI of Orléans, in bluish iron grey cloth, saxony collar decorated with the original sewn collar tabs, reduced rank braids, gilt grenade buttons, black cotton lining, a brass-mounted warrant officer's sabre is attached, horn fuse without watermark, straight blade with median groove signed BARRE in Paris. Wear, a few holes. This capote is the one shown in the accompanying photograph, then in the rank of sergeant-major but whose ranks were changed when Lépissier was appointed lieutenant in September 1916. Attached is a photograph of the sergeant-major wearing this capote and holding the sabre of this lot during the winter of 14-15. wear, a few moth holes. ABE
