First edition. - The French apothecary Bernardin Martin (1629- c. 1695) entered the service of the Prince of Condé in 1669. There he also acted as librarian and secretary. In this capacity, he travelled to Spain in 1670 with Jean Hérault de Gourville (1625-1703) to collect the sums owed to the Prince of Condé from Charles II in Madrid. A large part of the work deals with the journey to Spain and Portugal. - Title page with annotations in manuscript and slight paper tear in white margin. Minimal worming in the white margin at the beginning. Overall a very good copy.
