Spectacularly large brooch from the Princely House of Schaumburg-Lippe, made by court jeweller Peter Rath, Munich
Rose gold, 14 ct. doubled with silver. Light blue, untreated Sri Lankan sapphire cabochon of approx. 75 ct. in a crown setting, surrounded by small diamond roses. Weight ca. 27.23 g. Very fine goldsmith's work by the Munich court jeweller Peter Rath.

Provenance: From the Princely House of Schaumburg-Lippe.
The brooch originally came from the estate of Heinrich Prinz zu Lippe (1894-1952), a brother of the reigning Prince Adolf zu Schaumburg-Lippe (1883-1936, abdicated 1918), married to Erika (Eka) Gräfin von Hardenberg (1903- 1963). The brooch then passed down through the family to the present owner via Dagmar Princess of Schaumburg-Lippe (1934-2003).
