Seated sphinx Bronze figure with a woman's head, a lion's body of a seated lion and legs ending in cloven cloven hooves. The protruding chest is surmounted with a collar from which fall thirteen crenellated sides. Early 18th century. Height: 12.1 cm - Width: 6.9 cm Depth: 3.5 cm (Wear, minor knocks, mounted on a brocatelle marble base) PROVENANCE - Nicolas de Hurtado Collection (1854 - 1920) - Probably stolen on 21 December 1937 and returned to the family on 23 December to the widow of the previous owner, née Amparo, Baroness Beyens (1859-1946) - It has remained in the family to this day.
