In the second book, there are printed notes by the author on some pages. Inside the volume there are several graphic examples of troop dispositions in battle and an engraving, in the second book, reproducing an example of an army housing; in the third book, of the four, there are drawings of defence systems, and in the fourth book, finally, there are drawings of cannon positioning for defence. The fourth book indicates a different printing date and typography, Venice 1569 for Giovan Griffio, than the one at the head of the first book. Good overall state of preservation although there are some damp stains and hand annotations on the first page and on the last, before the third and fourth covers, rare woodworm holes in the front cover.
