"SONGYE POWERS STATUE - NKISHI - DRC (FORMER ZAIRE) Upper LOMAMI Region This magnificent statue was collected by the family of Doctor MUTEBA in the 50s. The face is very naturalistic, with a circular, laughing mouth. The sculpted headdress is very beautiful. Also noteworthy is the treatment of the hands, on which the fingers are well separated, resting on the prominent abdomen. The deep patina is smooth and remarkable.
