STATUE OF OSIRIS IN SOAPSTONE
Egyptian art, late 25th - early 26th dynasty
Large statue of the mummiform god, depicted standing on a rectangular base rounded at the front, leaning against an anepigraphic pillar, holding the sceptre (heqa) and the flagellum (nekhekh). He wears a false beard and the atef crown, made up of the white mitre of Upper Egypt (hedjet) edged with two ostrich feathers.
