BRONZE STATUETTE OF A PRIEST
Egyptian art, Saite period, XXVIth dynasty, 664-525 BC
Male figure shown standing, head shaved, left leg forward in the attitude of walking, arms thrown forward. He is wearing a long loincloth inscribed with a hieroglyphic column giving the identity of the priest: "The priest of Thoth, master of Hermopolis Magna, Irethorerou, son of the divine father Tja(en)heseret". A figure of the god Osiris is engraved on the back.
Hands and feet missing.
