BRONZE STATUETTE OF A PRIEST Egyptian art, Saite period, XXVIth dynasty, 664-525 BC Male figure shown standing, head shaved, left leg forward in the attitude of walking, arms thrown forward. He is wearing a long loincloth inscribed with a hieroglyphic column giving the identity of the priest: "The priest of Thoth, master of Hermopolis Magna, Irethorerou, son of the divine father Tja(en)heseret". A figure of the god Osiris is engraved on the back. Hands and feet missing. Height: 12.5 cm Provenance: Galerie Nefer, Zurich Galerie Cybèle, Paris, 1990 Former collection of Mr S.D., acquired in the 1990s from Galerie Jean-Philippe Mariaud de Serres, Paris An Egyptian bronze statuette of a Priest, Saite Period, 26th Dynasty, 664-525 B.C.
